Katherine watched as her mom pounded the raw steaks with an old wooden mallet. These steaks were pieces of meat left after the very best cuts were taken for the restaurant where Rosemary works. Squinting at it a little, Katherine leaned forward and commented “It looks like a dog chewed on it.”
Rosemary looked surprised at her daughter, and a bit offended. “They’re not the cuts of meat that you buy in the store, but they’re still pretty good,” she explained.
There followed an awkward silence. Then it dawned on me that both were speaking of different things and neither had understood the other’s words.
“Katherine was talking about the handle of the mallet, not about the steaks,” I realized aloud.
We had a good laugh. The steaks were delicious.
No matter how long we are married, we hope to always remain newlyweds. We started this blog to keep a record of the funny and exciting things that happen in our lives. We hope that you enjoy it and look forward to hearing your thoughts.
That was a good one!
Reader’s Digest worthy, I would say…
Any permanent job yet, or are you still subbing?
We are now in the throes of the big move over to the Oakridge building right now. Timpanogos will be totally out by tomorrow at 1:30. Second, third, and fourth grades will all be over there, plus Julie Martin, Alex Monahan, and the after-school-program. Teresa Dickson already has her stuff moved over there because they are moving her portable out on Saturday. Needless to say the stress level is at an all-time high, and Colleen and Rex are both out of town until next Monday…
